Travis Wiggins and The Dream Dragons

Travis Wiggins and The Dream Dragons

Travis Wiggins and the Dream Dragons – Talkin’ Drum Solo Blues (Honolulu HI)

Residing on Honolulu HI after paying dues to Portland Oregon, Wiggins has emptied the rain drops from his skate shoes and accepted the small grains of sand between his flip flops. This everyday tripper moves us with bedroom folk jams that could turn any genre specific fans door wide open to new interests.

Wiggins roots run deep underground. A self publisher of poetry and science fiction Travis continues to enjoy making art and traveling with friends. Originally from Texas, Wiggins has put together a record that rolls along like tumble weed. Catchy like Tommy James and the Shondells, obscure enough to mention Wild Billy Childish and packed with lyrical social commentary to warm the long dead voices of radicals throughout history. One day Wiggins will run into Willy Nelson on those Hawaiian Islands. Until that day I suppose us old country listeners will continue to search the underground for todays roots.

Rainbow Bombs

Rainbow Bombs – Trapped in a burning building, singing songs about water (Fresno CA)

Conduit Matt Mitchell has conjured up worlds rarely heard. Recorded in a Portland OR basement, across southern CA, the southwest, Austin, campsites in Flagstaff AZ and The Grand Canyon, a hotel room in Amarillo TX, and finished in a Fresno laundry room, we are given the opportunity to visit this artists unique trapped sounds. For Matt, this record was an exercise in bringing out an inner universe into the world to our conscious lives. “There are worlds inside ourselves that we rarely see because we forget to look, and there are voices inside us that we rarely hear because we choose to or are told to ignore them.”

Illuminating the powerful, beautiful, terrible, wonderful feeling to be alive, it is possible these sound waves give the listener a glimpse of freedom. We are fortunate to share this seekers vision. In Rainbow Bombs upcoming album we can see a mirror and that mirror is blinding us with the sun, with our own faces, and with the world all around us. Here is the never static being always in a dynamic becoming, doing it just to do it.
